Vauxhall Astra Hatchback (Nreg 1995)1400 Heater not working
Since the recent cold weather and snow the heater has ceased to function. The blower only works on the high setting (this was also the case prior to the heater recently not working) the engine temperature is ok and the temp gauge is ok there was adequate anti-freeze in the water and the water level is fine. No hot air is being transferred into the car despite the engine temp being ok and the blower working (albeit only on the highest setting),any ideas as to where i can start looking for the fault ? I have a manual for the car but it would be great if someone could give me some starting point/s. Many thanks as always in anticipation.

dont think the resister controls heat just the motor speed, not familiar with Astras but assuming the heater hasnt got electronic water valves (which i dont think it has) it could be the heater rad is clogged up. Just disconnect the hoses to it and flush it through with a garden hose...
The other possibility is one of the cables has broken or become disconnected which controls the air flow, it runs from the temp knob to either a valve or flap, its actually called the ' air temp regulation cable'....Would probably be easier to start with this first..
