Take a deep breath, How do you perceive same sex marriages in our modern world? Don't you think it contradicts with our manners/ values , can we tolerate living in a world where you see gay couples walking around you?

I am straight, I want to know your opinion!

i used "you" as in general aimed at those who don't like it by the way!

I have no problems with same sex relationships, and I would welcome a society that accepts same sex marriages, in either civil or religious form. To my mind, the notion of marriage is a statement of commitment from one to another, and i fail to see why people in same sex relationships should be prevented from demonstrating that commitment. More importantly, laws that discriminate against the legal rights of same sex couples have to be out-dated, and are hopefully slowly but surely being replaced. We should be as enlightened and tolerant as we can - heaven knows the fruits of intolerance are clear enough elsewhere in the world. The notion of 'not scaring the horses' is antique, and same sex marriages should be part of our inclusive and tolerant society.

What Andy said. I can't really understand anyone who feels that their own marriage would be somehow cheapened by allowing gay marriage. It's a personal contract between two people and not dependent on anyone else's.My marriage is no more cheapened by a married murderer or serial adulter than it would be improved by the fact that a hero was married.

Incidentally, to the person who felt that the term 'mariage' implied some sort of religious belief, you're incorrect. I, for one, am a married athiest, and promise you the lack of religious content in my wedding vows don't detract from the seriousness of the commitment one iota.

A lot of things we do contradict with our manners/ values. I am straight but used to have a lot of gay friends (when I used to have any friends!).
Come on... tell me you don't just love seeing two beautiful women kiss!
As far as living in a world with gay couples "running amok", I think there are bigger fish to fry - gay people are at the bottom on my list of concerns for this world's future.
Can we tolerate living in a world where you see homeless schizophrenics muttering to themselves and begging for your spare change? How about a world where... well you get the idea.
All the marriage does is allow all of those fringe benefits like health insurance coverage and tax cuts. Even without legally advocating gay peoples' relationships, they'll still "laugh and dance and screw - because there's nothing else to do"
Just like the rest of us.
What's your opinion?
Oh, I should have read further!
Well we're never going to go extinct at this rate: on the news today a 67 - 67! - year old woman got pregnant (through fertility treatment) with twins!! I'm sure there are a thousand more idiots getting implanted with triplets/ sextuplets etc.
You know who I think should be stopped? These mental cases that are all on psychotic medications, getting govt money cos they're too lazy/crazy to work, live in absolute squalor with their 4 kids, huff glue and buy new stereo equipment while their kids don't have decent clothes to wear to school etc etc.
No one get offended, I'm not saying all people on medication or govt assistance are bad. You know the type, the ones you always see on the news with 100 half-dead cats or with a baby they stole from some pregnant woman they met at the dog show.
Oh, this really gets my goat! But I digress... yeah... gays.......
fine by me.
Worry about the people being killed by natural disaster or being killed or persecuted by regimes around the world or those that cannot feed there families or every other problem in this cruel world. Who people fall in love with comes very far down the list and i suspect your main problem is more to do with what they do with there private parts. I hope you never have to come up against predudice  HAPPY NEW YEAR
