Weight Loss
13 Answers
I used to weigh 9 stone but at the moment weigh 14 stone and now i really want to lose weight.
I've got into bad habits such as having toast for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch and too much snacking. If I try and be good I have a yoghurt and grapes for breakfast, a cereal bar mid morning, soup and a slice of bread for lunch, an apple in the afternoon and usually chicken new potatoes and veg for dinner or something similar. The problem is I'm starving all the time eating this, so I give up!!!
Any suggestions for alternatives to bread for breakfast and lunch and also filling snacks. Not particularly keen on soup or salad for lunch either, so any other options?
Also exercise wise can anyone suggest a routine I can do, I have about 30-40 mins 5 days a week. Is this enough for gradual weight loss? I have an exercise bike, skipping rope, trampette and use of 3kg weights but not sure of a routine and need inspiration to get me going!
Thank you for your help in advance : )

I joined one 2 years ago (Yes I hated Gyms too!). I didnt run on the treadmill.. but walked - uphill - fast.. I lost 8 lbs.. and discovered the bum I used to have years ago!
The great thing is.. I never changed my diet.. so I continued to eat... (slightly smaller portions) but still have the odd take-away and chocolate bar!
Exercise bikes are very good!
You need to burn the fat - and in order to do that you need to sweat and get out of breath!

The gym trainers set me up with the following programme (based on about an hour)
5 mins cardio (cycling machine or treadmill or cross-trainer) to warm up
5 mins stretches (touching toes, stretching calves etc)
50 sit ups
Then 30 mins cardio - split over 3 machines (so 10 mins each). Thats cycling machine, treadmill and cross-trainer. Though you could do 30 mins on one if you prefer
THEN... and we are nearly there!!!
10 mins weights... so arms - legs etc with weights
5 mins cardio
5 mins cool down

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately I can't get to a gym so I'd have to just use the equipment I already have.
I occasionaly have porridge in the morning if I'm in the office, but I often travel with work so need something on the go. Also if I have breakfast at 7.45 by the time it's 10am I'm sooo hungry.

its not so much your diet - its the lack of exercise.. If you up the amount of cardio exercise (your exercise bike and skipping rope will be perfect!) then your metabolism will change naturally and you will burn off the food you eat...
Stay away from foods high in fat and sugar...
And aim for 1-2lbs weight loss per week... as a steady rate...
Avoid fruit juices too if poss - they are full of hidden sugars!

Hi
As we know Health and fitness are one of the biggest concerns in today's society. I know that, you are very excited about to lose weigh.I think we should have healthy and fit body. Counting calories, carbohydrate and protein levels, getting the right kind of exercise, measuring your weight every week, are just a few methods by which you can control your weight. However, amongst the many facets of weight loss, the focus remains the same: the goal is to lose weight. Media URL: http://www.slimming.com/
