Getting old!!
9 Answers
I am 41 !! After years of stiff neck, muscle spasms (ouch),Head aches and occasional crunching when i turn my head to left... i decided to get some physio done (£35). He massaged the muscle on left side of my upper back for 25mins (nice) then spent the last few minutes turning my head to the left until it clicked (ouch). The rest of the day i had a lot more movement but since then all my symptoms have got worse...So finally went to the docs on Monday and he sent me for a x-ray...........but..........the results take two weeks!! Any idea what this might be? Got an interview for uni (adult nursing) soon, if im successful i will need a medical and im frightened that because i have restricted movement in my neck that i.ll fail ! Strugle to reverse the car etc! thanks Abbers & hopefully Squad julie

I take ibuprofen sometimes all day because my headaches are quite severe especially in my temples, I have been scouring the internet and itseems that a lot of women seem to suffer with the same things around the time of menopause, althoughI tink you may be too young , i am sure this is what mine is down to. Anyway have u tried a heatwrap around your neck or movelat cream. Hope you get some relief from it soon let me know how u get on. The info i found was on power-surge.com if ur interested. x
It sounds like spondolysis - I have had this in my neck for a long time - had to give my Secretary/PA job up because of it. I to went too a osteopath, thinking this would be the answer - she crunched my neck a few times, rolled me about and hey presto, I felt a bit better. On my next visit I told her this, so she really went to town on me, and I had a longer session. Well I was in absolute agony - I had two weeks of frozen peas on my neck -numerous painkillers and felt like sh!t.
I now live with this condition and take iburofen when it gets too painful.

Hiya Rinks - just a neck xray - but I think years of sitting at a desk did not help - as I said thats why I gave my job up. I also have osteoporosis in my spine - but that was caused by over active thyroid - I am very bitter about that, as I was totally unaware this condition caused osteoporosis. I was only enlightend to this fact when I was 42 - by then the damage had been done.
