I hope she doesn't mind my repeating this, the thread was at 79 so I put I hate odd numbers, then Peri said,"Obviously not a Catholic Bobbi, I was brought up on that"

For the next 40 days (Lent), the family ate plainly, and would usually 'give something up'. This fasting period (also seen in non-Christian countries) was a time for concentrating on God and your relationship with him. (Also, tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, sees some Christians receive a cross marked in ash on their foreheads).
At the conclusion of this period of Lent, we remember the Last Supper, Good Friday and Easter Sunday; the holiest time of the Christian calender.
