Not sure where to put this question, but here goes.
I am in my 60's and in May I am going to visit my son who lives in London. He is takintg me to the O2
to see "Carmen" and I am very excited.
However, what do I wear to the opera in London? Will it be 'dressy' if so, I could wear my Mother of the Groom outfit (without the hat) and are things very casual nowadays? I want to look right. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Last time i went to the theatre in London it was very much anything goes. Dressy or casual . Wear what you like .I love to dress up it makes it more of an occasion and is shows you appreciate the outing. have a lovely time. ( PS it's not good form to sing-a-long )
people sometimes dress up at the Royal Opera House but I don't think they bother at the O2, which is more usually a rock/pop venue. By all means dress up a bit but leave the tiara at home.
If going by tube at the weekend, check that it's running.
Thank you all for your answers. O2 is usually a rock venue, the first opera I think.
I have decided to *dress up* as it will be a special occasion. Thanks again.
clippety clop, wasn't the suite a bit heavy ? At least you had somewhere to sit down. Sorry couldn't resist. lidlicker ... don't want to put a damper on it, but people really don't get dressed up any more in London, even for the theatre everyone just wears really casual and even jeans, I wouldn't want you to feel over dressed. A little suit, no hat definitely. Just what makes you comfy and enjoy.
