I had a bad cold a month or so back but I'm stiff sniffing loads and it's driving me mad now.

I don't have the best immune system and have deficiencies caused by bile acid malabsorbtion which are hopefully rectifying themselves now I'm on treatment.

I'm getting quite a bit of Vitamin C as I take my meds diluted in a bottle of orange juice and am going to try and get a good multivitamin now they will hopefully have more of an effect.

If anyone else has any other ideas they would be gratefully received as it's driving me mental sniffing all the time, it's not just a "sniff", there is lots of stuff with it...urgh!

a month of sniffing seems a long time. Vit C in tablet form - 4per day. When out in the cold inhale thru your nose so that cold air doesn't hit your chest....hope you're over it soon ;)

I will go get myself some tomorrow :)

It seems to be a mucus overload! If I can't blow my nose it ends up getting in my throat and chest and making me cough.

My poor colleagues and clients must be sick of the sound of me by now, I hate sniffing so I definitely am lol :)
I had something similar last year, less sniffing, but lots of chesty coughing. Turned out to be pneumonia and took two months to cure. If you think there's any fluid lower down it might be worth having an Xray.
Have you tried steam inhalation?
Fill a bowl with very hot water then drape a towel over your head and inhale the steam.
If you want you can add eucalyptus oil or menthol crystals to the water, or dissolve some Vick in it.
It helps to clear you nasal passages.
Hope you feel better soon.
I swear by Sanderson's Throat Specific Linctus, for sore throats and catarrh. It's revolting, tastes like battery acid, but it works for me. You buy it from the pharmacy counter in Boots, either liquid or pastilles. It is however quite acid so you might need to have a chat about your bile problems before you take it. I also take echinacea tablet every day and although it might be coincidence, I've had much less colds and runny noses this winter than I've had previously.
I think the same virus is affecting my wife and myself, sniff, sniff, all day, and more mucous than usual in the larynx.
omg Boxtop, you drink battery acid? why? :-)
Could be allergies too, Jenna. Do check with your doc to make sure it's not a case of pneumonia.
