Chicken Drumstick, Pork Pie, Glass Of...

There is talk of a mobile phone mast being erected in our village which has generated the predictable bleats about the possible (but as yet unproven) health risk. At the same time, most of the population own mobiles and presumably expect a decent service. I neither own nor use a mobile, but have two questions.
Isn't it hypocritical to expect a good mobile telephone service in your area while complaining about the installation of the necessary infrastructure to bring this about?
Isn't there a far greater risk attached to having the phone clamped to your ear as opposed to being several hundred yards away from a mast?
If people are so concerned about the risks of mobile phone masts, why don't they stop using their mobiles altogether that would solve it surely?
Yes, I know it's turned into three questions!
