Hi - we got a Wii Fit board the other day and I've been having a gentle go on that - warming up first and not going mad! Yesterday i noticed that my left ankle (back of my leg, low down really) was painful and I couldn't walk normally , because it hurt. When i looked at it , before bed it looks swollen, sort of round the back of my ankle and I'm hobbling about again today. Anyone any idea what I have done? will it wear off soon? The only thing different that I have done is a new lunge exercise, but that wasn't a problem at the time. Any advice welcome x

Hi Nosha123 - fairly fit - not as if I never leave the sofa lol! I walk miles normally as I don't drive and so this is a real problem. I was careful about warming up too
What shoes did you have on?
how old r u...maybe sprain or fracture - apply pkt of frozen peas. Then sue Wii Fit
Sounds like a sprain....rest it.

I hurt my foot about 4 years ago but had no choice but to walk on it. It's still swollen. OH calls me club foot...lol

I had my trainers on; 46yrs - fairly certain it's not broken - broke other leg in 2 places and smashed up that ankle 4 yrs ago - this doesn't feel like that! (thankfully!!)
How old are your trainers and are they designed for the type of exercise you're doing?

JoggerJayne actually knows way more than I do about this sort of thing but I do know that if the foot wear you're using isn't right you can do some pretty nasty damage to yourself... I found out the hard way a few years back. I've had my gym trainers since September last year and I'll be replacing them at the end of the month. I'm pretty sure there's only a standard amount of time they're good for.

Interesting China Doll - would never have thought of that.I don't understant how one single occasion of doing an exercise that didn't seem to be pulling the back of my leg particularly, could have this effect. I'm now thinking that it might be my achiles tendon - any views? & if it is what should I do? x
Well even though you say that you're fairly fit you may well be exercising different types of muscles... I'm fairly fit but last night I did a circuit class for the first time and you'd think I'd run the marathan after I came out as I was exercising a different way to what I'm used to. Also, really can't emphasise decent footwear enough. Perhaps it's a combination of these things as well as maybe needing to warm up for slightly longer (at least ten mins) that have resulted in injury, it really is just so easy to do.

Rest up, keep elovated and cold/hot compress to reduce swelling. Ibu - profens will treat any inflamation if you have any and if it's still bad then quacks on MOnday. No point in exercising before it's properly healed, I also did that a few years back and couldn't use the gym for months rather than weeks.

Hope you feel better soon.
