Pain in fingers

Hello,

Over a year ago, I began to get a really sharp pain on the very end of my index finger.  I still get these pains now but more often and it's starting to go right through my finger and my other fingers on the same hand.  Also I am beginning to get the same pain (but not as painful) in my other hand.

The pains feel like electrical impulses going through my fingers.

I am an office worker and I do little typing.

I am thinking of going to the doctors but they'd probabley send me away with a prescription for painkillers, also I don't want to waste their precious time.

Has anybody experienced simular symptoms?

I am worried I may be developing somekind of degenerative condition.

Thank you in advance for any advice/experiences passed on.

Katherine

I worked in an office environment for many years & eventually had similar symptoms. After several tests at the hospital, the diagnosis was that the problem stemmed from the top of my spine/neck area. This was mainly due to years of sitting at a desk, staring at a PC screen, typing & writing whilst holding a phone crooked on my shoulder & in an awkward position. You just don't realise at the time, the damage that can be done by doing all of these things! A good posture is so important. Best to consult you GP for his/her professional advice. Good luck.
I would agree with smudge that this sounds like a posture problem. Do go to your GP, or does your organisation have a health and safety or occupational health department, you could get help there too.

Thanks to smudge and woofgang for your replies, however this problem started well before I became an office worker.  I always sit in the correct manner at my desk.

I think I'll take heed of your advice and go to my doctor.

Thanks

it could be a problem with your digital nerves
