Recently I hurt my tail bone (sorry don't know the proper name for it). It is very painful, it has been really hard to get comfortable at night and can't sleep properly. Does anyone have any advice?

I had come coccyx pain a few years ago & ended up getting a course of laser treatments, which worked a treat & I haven't had any more pain since. I know my GP's initial treatment was a cortisone injection, which worked initially, but once it wore off the pain came back with a vengeance. The best thing is to see your GP & take it from there.
Have also experienced fracturing my coccyx, and know how painful it is. I was told then (1995) that it was best left to heal by itself; surgical excision would be considered only as a last resort if it didn't settle by itself. It was almost a year before I could sit comfortably for more than a few minutes, but the doc was right; it eventually settled down and now I'm good as new with no treatment except painkillers.
I fell down a flight of stairs and hurt my coccyx, I went to Drs as was in pain and he gave me some very strong anti inflammatory painkillers which helped . Other than that it just took a bit of time.
My wife did hers in a couple of years ago and was told to just ride with it. She used an inflated inner tube from a car tyre to sit on. Didn't cure the pain, but it helped a lot.
