epsom salts

I have som Epsom Salts in my shed which I have been told I can use in the garden. Unfortunately I cannot remember what it was that I was told! I do not like throwing things away. Any ideas please.

I have read on various gardening forums that a liquid feed of Epsom Salts is particularly good for curing the rather sickly yellow leaves which sometimes appear on Tomato plants. Alas I can't remember what chemical it is they contain which replaces the missing nutrients in the plant but I gather it works.
