For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.the problem is that at a certain point discussing it publicly is unnecesary as the solution is found and the further discussion meant exange of postal address so we r back to sqaure one. unless it is q and a the service is useless as i need to send this person an audio cd how can i if we cannot exange contact details ?
surley me posting my e-mail is legal to AB if it is the same one i registered with ?
ABank's policy not to allow email addresses is for our protection. Nobody knows who people are on this site.
It has been shown in the past, grudges and vendetta's do take place here, though thankfully it is rare these days thanks to the Editor and his team. But they do happen.
If email and other personal details were allowed, the problem would be made far worse. One such occassion comes to mind when a member found it necessary to seek legal advice due to the vindictiveness and threatening manner of another.
If, in this instance, personal details were available, can you possibly imagine the results?
I totally agree with removing any details that break the terms and conditions of the site, after all you agree to abide by the rules when you register.
TheAnswerbank's terms of use can be read here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Info/TermsOfUse.asp
Point eight reads: "You agree not to disclose any personal information (e.g. full name, address, phone number) either about yourself or any other individual(s) when making any posting or contribution to any of the message boards. You agree not to disclose any personal information (e.g. full name, address, phone number) either about yourself or any other individual(s) when making any posting or contribution to any of the message boards."
This also applies to email addresses.
Thunderchild - The AnswerBank was conceived as a central point where users can ask genuine questions and receive helpful answers. It is not intended for use as a chatroom.
If you wish to share chat and personal information with other internet users, I'm sure ABers can suggest many appropriate sites. Simply post a question in the Internet & technology section.
Thanks!
my intention is not to chat ! if you go to the link in my question (www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Arts-and-Literature/ Question46532.html) you will see my point how can this person be helped if we cannot exange contact details so that i can physicallly send him a phisical object !
just telling him i have what he wants (a recording of a x-mas 1986 radio show) does not help him and is a waste of my time if the is no way of directly communicating.
