My husband has just bought a business and has had a new sign made. He has paid a very large deposit about about 5 weeks ago. It was supposed to be fit on good friday but they never turned up and the same has happened about 3 times since. My husband is now away and has left me in charge and every time I contact the owner he promises they are coming that day but never does.
Has anyone got any suggestions what I can do or where I can get advice from. Our business is losing money because most people dont think it's open.
Thanks

What terms and conditions were on the order form? Unusual for a sign to be fitted on Good friday as it's a Bank Holiday? Did they put a delivery due date on the order confirmation? I can only suggest that you write to the supplier and say that unless the sign is delivered and fitted by **** whatever date you choose, they are in breach of contract (if you have one) and that you want your money back.
Go to their works address and ask to see the sign and ask what the delay is about, tell them they have breached rheir contract and you will not be paying anymore until it's fitted, tell them you wan the deposiy repayed if it's not complete within 7 days. Kick some butt.

They were fitting it on good friday because they had let us down earlier in the week and as it is a takeaway shop in town centre my husband wanted to open for easter weekend. I have been and seen the sign and every time I talk to him he has a reasonable excuse as to why he hasn't been. He then tells me which day he is doing it and doesn't turn up again. Someone has suggested to me that it might be because my husband is foreign so he thinks he can take advantage but I don't know.

Thanks for the replies
Well, if fails again to turn up, can't see nothing other than going to Police and taking proof of deposit paid and other paperwork - i would say possible to be Obtaining money by deception or something similar
The police won't get involved in a civil breach of contract case! Speculative answers are so unhelpful!
