Hey all!

Have had a month of looking manky and going back and forward to the Drs, and today 2 Drs agreed they think I have guttate psoriasis!

Have been given dovonex cream to use twice a day and referred for light treatment, however I was told to use the cream wherever I have the rash.. which I did! Now reading the leaflet it says not to use on my face, which it is a bit late for!

I'm confused! :-( So fed up of looking like I do, especially my legs as they are really bad, and having to keep covered up in jeans and jumpers even when out in the sun. Just want to get better!

Help please! Should I do as the Dr says and use everywhere, or everywhere but not on my face!?

Hope someone can help!

Everywhere but not on the face...

You know it's caused by stress?
I've used this but not on my face . My docs suggested that you moisturise the skin about 20 minutes before you use the cream as it works better . If you stick to twice a day it can improve it. I must say sunlight is the best treatment for me and I keep trying to persuade the doc that regular visits to the Caribbean on the NHS would prove to be very cost effective ;o/
I had it really bad and the only thing that worked for me was the sun.

For the first time in 20 years I am completely free....even my elbows have cleared up.
I use dovonex its a good cream for me but you have to find what works for you.

BUT definitely get out in the sun!!!!! can't stress that enough!! the sun is like a wonder cure! use whatever chance you get in this country get as naked as you can! and let the sun do its magic!!!

Hi ummmm and Rosetta. Thanks for your replies.

ummmm, they said to me that mine seemed to have been started by the streptococcal infection as about 6 weeks ago I had a really sore throat for a few days and thought it could be a throat infection, then pretty much straight after the rash started on my face.

It has gradually spread to the rest of me, and although being in the sun sounds great, the bottoms of my legs are so bad I am stuck in jeans!

Rosetta, although I have private health cover through work, I dont think they will stretch to holidays unfortunately!
But the Dr did say to keep moisturised, so have bought some E45 lotion to use aswell!

Just keeping my fingers crossed it clears up soon!
Wiggal....you've not long split up, am I right? And had worries with your pets?
Question Author
Yea, my throat kicked off about a week and half after I moved back to mums, and there was rehoming the pets, and also I am being made redundant end of May so it has been a pretty stressful time really!

Although I have known I am losing my job since October, more then stressed, I am very grateful that I am one of the last 19 employees left!
Stress makes it worse...but it's catch 22. You get stressed because of the rash. My advice would be to chill as much as possible. If you can afford it go for massages and stuff. Try and sort out anything on your mind. Even the small things. Mine triggered off when I left home. Like you my legs were the worse. That stayed for a few years. Gradually it got better but I always had patches on my elbows and knees and a few little ones else where. It's completely gone now.....but this is the first time my life has been stress free.
Question Author
Oh right ummmm, will bare that in mind!

I'm generally a pretty chilled out person anyway and never really seemed to get stressed about anything, but maybe I do and juist dont realise it!

I have it all over me, but whereas I will wear a vest top or something as my arms and back are pretty faint, shorts or a skirtare definitely out the question for me! :-(
That's how I felt. I didn't realise I was stressed....I think it's subconsciously.

Can you get in the garden? Or onto a sunbed?
Question Author
Where I stay most of the time with my fella he does not have a garden unfortunately.

Sunbed is a possibility, guess that is the same kind of thing as the light treatment they were talking about at the Drs?
Yeah....they do seem to work. When my Dad died it started coming back on my lower legs. I had my own sunbed because of it and use to sit with just my lower legs under it. It went within a couple of weeks.
Question Author
I used to have my own sunbed but was too scared to use it! Think I will have to get over that now and stop being a wimp!

I'm pretty pale anyway, so will probably make me look slightly less like a ghost too!

Hey Carogirl, thank you very much for your response!

I have been using the Dovonex only for a couple of days now so have not yet seen any improvement, but then it says on the leaflet that it would be around 2 weeks before I do see anything.

I am also armed with E45 lotion, and have put that on a couple of times today, much to my dislike as I can not stand the feeling of any moisturisers or lotions, but then if it wll make me better, I will put up with it!

The Dr said to me that in a lot of cases, after a while it just clears itself up and goes, but unfortunately not in my case, so think I will keep perservering for a while and keep my fingers crossed that at some point this summer I may be able to wear something other then jeans!
