I'm waiting for a call from the school counsellor

My 13 year old has a friend who is an 'emo' , she cuts herself and talks about taking drugs and drinking. My daughter knows she's not taking drugs etc but looking for attention - she has seen the marks from the cutting. Anyway they were away on a school trip at the weekend and this girl had brought shards of glass etc with her and had been cutting herself on the bus. The girls told a teacher and the counsellors are dealing with it now but they have only spoken to all the girls with this girl present so they are not getting the full truth - I had a very upset child here last night and have left a message for someone to ring so I can fill them in. Why are they not talking individually to the kids?

Perhaps it will take too much time talking individually, and talking with all the kids together will be more comforting for them (girls) and probably they might morally support each other?

I'm talking about this girl being there as they don't want her to see them talking about her so the truth won't come out

My daughter heard the girls mother giving out to her on her phone and that leadse to believe the full story isn't coming across !

I had to go to sessions with a teacher with my mate that used to cut her arms. If the girls told a techer then thats all they needed to do. The marks on her arms will tell the truth and the main thing is the girl in question gets spoken to and gets the help she needs.

Ring social services or threaten to - This is classic "gowing through the motions" if something happens to this child the school will ring its hands and say we did everything we could.

I did feel they were being a bit lax but that could be down to my daughters telling of the story. It's now nearly 11 and no contact as yet. I want to firstly point out that you don't get the truth when the person they are 'telling on' is in the room but I would have thought that should be obvious

if the girls told the teachers in private already then its being dealt with.
The meeting with all the girls was probably to discuss the whole issue, not this one girl, and to maybe prevent it happening to others.

They did tell the teachers at the weekend but in any subsequent meeting the full story hasn't cone out. Why would this girls mother be giving out to her because the school contacted her - the focus seems to be on something else - but all I want to do is tell them what my daughter has seen so this child can get as much help as possible
