I find it really difficult to laugh, i could sit with a straight face through a comedy programme, i might just crack a smile but thats about it, i wish i was able to laugh along with others but I just cannot see what they see as funny, whats wrong with me?

Lots of people tell me that certain comedy programmes are hilarious and I find them really predictable. Don't forget some people laugh because other people are laughing, or because they are nervous - all sorts. You'll find out what you think amusing - you just may not be the belly-laugh type!
As the posters have said above fruitsalad - not everyone finds the same things funny...
I would be more likely to laugh out loud if i had company and they were laughing too.
There is nothing wrong with you (unless you are feeling really down about something) - in which case then of course it will be much harder to find 'silliness' funny!

Fruitsalad - just had a look on the internet and it says that it can be anything up to 9 months before you start to feel much better when on thyroxine and even longer to feel 'normal' again. Depends on how long you have been suffering from hypothyroidism - if you have been diagnosed late in life then i guess it will take up to a year to be 'back on form again' and of course this could include your sense of humour. But dont worry too much - maybe the things you feel you 'should' be laughing about are just not the things that make you laugh. We are all different, so dont be too harsh on yourself. x
Its not just you,I would say that I have laughed at the tv/film type thing once in the last year, but what can make me laugh are the one liners that people come out with(specially my son).Stressing about not laughing can make you more aware that you are not.We are all different and if we all laughed at the same thing, well I dread to think what would happen!
Try not to worry about it too much.

I too hardly laugh at much and wonder why everyone else is laughing! I just think I have a different sense of humor to others and usually it is oneliners that have me chuckling.
I find myself false laughing when in group situations as I don't want to be seen as the miserable one (I was called 'smiler' when I was younger as I clearly didn't smile enough lol) but usually I can predict or have heard the punchline so just laugh along & it amazes me sometimes how funny some people find things that I just don't think are laugh out loud funny!
Different sense of humor thats all, would be boring if we were all the same :o)

Don't let it worry you fruitsalad I am just the same.Mind you I laugh at things that I shouldn't really laugh at!
My wife Elsie says we would make a great team to comission comedy programmes.
If I laugh at it it is good.
If she doesn't laugh at it(she laughs at most everything) it's bad.
I have always been this way since I was a child.I think I have no sense of humour, others might think differently. It's all a matter of perception.
It doesn't make us less of a human being though fruitsalad.
