A neighbour of mine has had keyhole surgery, her heart wasn't beating properly. Apparently there aren't many surgeons who carry out this operation. She seems OK now and is due for another operation to re-set her heart beat. Does anyone know about these operations, and what do they involve, especially the second one ?

Not enough information, but I would guess that her "keyhole surgery" was done for abnormal heart beat ( supraventricular tachycardia) and is usually very successful.

May well involve a small cut into the thigh and a catheter fed up into the heart.

This is totally a presumptive answer.
I had that done smurf in Feburary this year (if sqad's right...).
A cut in the groin, catheter up to the heart, heat it up, zap the bad bit - simples.... well not quite that simple - but if sqad's right, I can tell you a bit more about my experience tomorrow - home for me now xx
I had it done in Papworth - excellent cardiologist, excellent team, excellent hospital.
It wasn't without its problems or anxieties - but I would wholeheartedly (no pun intended) recommend it.
I'm 48 by the way.
smurf....salla will give you a more practical appraisment.

Thanks guys. What does the second operation entail, when they re-set the heartbeat ?
Probably passing a catheter from the groin into the heart muscle to give it a "kick off"

Oh, right. Thanks sqad. Hope she's OK.
