i put some cream on my cheek to get rid of a brown sun spot. did it a few days only last week. i wondered why i had a sort of red burning area on my face and now i know why. ive had the cream for ages, a dermatologist gave it me to try a few years ago. i noticed skin peeling off so ive exfoliated but its still rid. what can i put on it to stop the burning sensation? ie what neutralises acid im guessing basically? ive put some antibiotic cream on it but doesnt seem to have helped.

I'd try really gentle things like calamine lotion, aloe vera or even just water soaked pads and get to a chemist for advice when you can.
Lemon juice is very acidic and will sting like hell and irritate further.

Hydroquinone is banned in the UK so how on earth did you come by it? No reputable, medically qualified, dermatologist would have prescribed this to you in the UK.
Did you buy this cream online and are now too embarrassed to admit this to a GP or pharmacist? If that is the case then you need to put aside the embarrassment and seek medical help.

It is banned here in the UK mainly because of the nasty side effects such as you are experiencing now, also because it has been shown to cause cancer in mice when given orally in high concentration. Obviously you wouldn't be ingesting your face cream but even so there is a small risk. The cream can even cause darkening of the skin according to what I have read online and has to be used forever once you start to keep the lightened skin tone.
