I am a fairly open minded person who is not afraid to try new things. I had an accident a year and a half ago and badly broke my ankle, I have since had three surgeries and had physio pretty much every week of the year and a half that I have not been in a cast.
I have been on and off painkillers for this entire time and to be honest I am sick of always being in bloody pain. It really gets me down and after all this time I would like to at least be able to see some light at the end of the long tunnel. I am realistic in the sense that I will not be totally pain free for a very long time (if ever at this rate) but I would like to think I could improve my situation. The painkillers just numb me as a person more than anything else (I have tried so many, most make me ill).
Has anyone tried acupuncture for pain and did it work for you?
I have been considering it for a while. I will ask my physio when I go next see what they say. Its worth a go I think. Just wanted to see if anyone had anything positive to say about it.
I have had back pain from slipped discs and received a course of acupuncture on NHS.
I would thoroughly recommend it. The relief was immediate and profound (as I mentioned to someone yesterday - forgotten which thread).
Acupuncture seems to be either one of those things that works for you or it doesn't (there's not a lot of middle ground). Plenty of NHS physios offer it, and it's worth having a go.
