*Question about bowels.............please avoid if sensitive !!!!!*
12 Answers
I've got a problem with my rear end.
Basically, I have lost the ability to push. I know that my bowels need emptying but I can't seem to get things going. It's like I have to wait for gravity to act and is very annoying.
I am on quite strong pain-killers for an on-going back complaint and I am aware that they can cause constipation, but this doesn't really seem like constipation, as I understand it.
I am a little numb in the saddle area anyway and have been for a couple of years and my GP is aware of this but wondered if I ought to trouble him with this problem ?
All (or possibly, most) suggestions gratefully welcomed.

1. No pain at all. No blood spotting. Stools resemble nothing as much as conkers, so easily got rid of when I can.
2. Definitely knackered L5/S1 disc..........possibly additional sacral problems. I have a hospital appointment soon to investigate the continuing, and determine source of additional, pain.
Thankyou.

That's it, the nerve supply to your levati ani (responsible for you rectal action) is innervated by S234 and other contributions from S1. You have poor nerve supply to your rectum due to your spinal trouble and this will have to be investigated.
As a student the mnemonic was "S234 keeps your @rse of the floor"
