chrohns disease - free car - bmw....
31 Answers
i have a mate who has chrohns disease and he does suffer with it - forever boring the pants of everyone with his tales of woe ( dont get me wrong i know its serious, but he never stops moaning)
having said that, he spends all his time in the pub, so he is not housebound etc
i have no problem wiht him getting help with mobility and getting a car because of this...
but they give him a choice - an he ends up with bmws and merc etc...very nice, new, modern cars...
how is this possible? and why wouldnt they just give him a micra or fiesta or something?
is there some other thing hes getting these from? he shows off a bit too
i just dotn get it (dont like to ask because dont want to seem like i am against it)
thanks

he would then get a brochure telling him which car he can get for just the rate of his DLA, and which "higher end" car he can get if he's prepared to stump up the extra money.
trust me, it's pretty basic cars unless you put extra money in.

if they are all disability cars then I dont know why he is bragging, they are not his they are leased, he will have a mileage to adhere to and he wont be allowed to "mess" the car up in any way.
chrones disease is debilitating, I am sure he would prefer being in good health than driving a nice car..I know I would

mmm...yeh good one...given that i drive any old car and i couldnt care less what it is, i rather think your barking up the wrong tree with that one - good try though, lazy, but good....
anyway its a simple question - do you think the government should dish out top notch cars to people because they have a serious ailment?
or should they just give them a decent car that works and spend that money elsewhere?
actually, i have an serious ailment too, maybe i should get one too eh?

joko, if you're entitled you should do it, but you will lose your DLA. no one gets the higher end cars unless they pay the extra money themselves, as I've already said.
I think the Motability scheme is a charitable organisation, but you can check for yourself here.. http://www.motability.co.uk/main.cfm?Type=IDX

it's a charity, so your tax payer's money is safe!
unless you contribute to the charity, of course. and you are a tax payer, of course, lol!

That's ridiculous! My mum has Crohns and does suffer badly (she's had ops and an illeostomy bag at one point), but she doesn't NEED a car and doesnt get a disability allowance for one either. When you have an episode with Crohns, you aint getting off the toilet let alone in a car! Then when it's ok, it's ok, you can walk, get a bus etc. Crazy government.
