28 Answers
I burnt myself on the griddly thingy in the oven. I held it under cold water for a few minutes and it's now numb . . . and now its gone rather pink. The oven was 180*c ish, how long wil lit take to heal, and will it heal like sunburn? If so will aftersun lotion help sooth it?

Obviously it's an extremely serious injury which requires immediate medical attention which does leave you with a dilemma - which parent should you ask to take you to the hospital?
I'm guessing your dad won't do it because you've not given him notice of your intention to be injured and your mum might arrange for a taxi to take you there but would pay for it out of your bank account.

DON'T PUT ANY CREAM ON IT!!
sorry to shout.....but if it's a bad burn, that may cause it to blister. Cold water-the longer the better. I get burns on a regular basis at work...the last one amounted to nothing as I kept my hand under cold water for quite a while...yes- it went numb-but there was no trace of it 2 days later.
But another burn -on which I put Savlon cream-blistered badly and took a good month to heal-and I will have a permanent scare.

Don't put anything on the burn itself. You should have left it under running cold water for a lot longer. Believe me - I scalded myself with a panful of boiling water a couple of years ago ..... If you must put something on it, go and buy some of those thin cotton gloves they sell in chemists/pharmacies. Just cut the fingers off, making sure that the burned bit of your hand is covered by the glove.
But no creams - please .....
