Which mobile phone?
7 Answers
I've had a mobile for several years but seldom use it. Now it's not working. I'm getting messages like 'no network coverage', 'sim card registration failed'. I'm not one of those people who walk around all day with one held to my ear as though I have earache! All I need one for is in case of emergency - one that is SIMPLE TO USE. I'm not interested in 'Bolt-ons', 'voice tags', 'themes', 'my presence' and all the other paraphernalia that whiz kids invent these days. Do you find mobiles are unnecessarily complicated and can you please suggest one that is simple and basic?

This is commonplace for PAYG phones not actively used within a 6 month period. If this is the case you can easily replace with a SIM compatible with the networks available on your phone.
If you do purchase a PAYG phone or SIM remember to dial out every 6 months even if only to check your remaining balance.

If, as ABerrant says, your connection has been cancelled by the network through lack of use, you could just buy a Sim card from ASDA for 49 pence(I think), top up with £5 and then you'll have a cheap phone for emergencies. Calls 8 pence per minute, texts 4 pence.
Take your old phone into ASDA and they may do it all for you at the Service desk.
