What are these?

Ive never been one to sit out in the sun but when im on holiday i get these hard raised white spots on my shoulders, back and front of kneck and the insides of my upper arms. they usually come up after about 4 days then die down after about ten days. I always use a high factor sunscreen. What are these?

I get them too - the're kind of like clear freckles? I just assumed it was something to do with a lack of melanin in those areas or something. Google white freckles, but here's one answer for you

I got these on holiday, assumed it was a non-itchy form of heat rash, although mine only came up on my arms so maybe a slightly different thing or cause?

Hi thanks for the replies, they are not itchy at all, im just very aware of them, maybe i need to apply a total sun block to these areas, the rest of me is fine

i do have quite a few brown freckles on my shoulders so white freckles make sense

Mine aren't itchy either, from what I've been reading just now it is what I thought, freckles without any pigment. They are more noticeable with a tan and almost non existant in winter. They're nothing to worry about. I actually know lots of people who have them - maybe that's because I'm Scottish and most folk I know are very fair skinned, and it seems to affect fair skinned people mostly.

lol im scottish too, must be our roots. i dont mind them being white i just dont like the lumps, by lumps i mean the size of an average plook lol

could it be a type of prickly heat - even if not that perhaps just making sure you are using oil free product in hot weather.
