ebay item too big for me to collect?

hi there I have been looking at a item which I like but I am in cornwall and this is near reading. But size wise anyway it is a fixed panel 16 ft or 4m 90cm
X 8 ft or 2m 46 cm which I am guessing is too big for a van, must be a lorry. Is it a common practice to get someone to pick it up and bring it to you, the item is very cheap at the moment so if I do win the item I will have the money to put towards pick up and delivery. Would the cost of pick up in kent and delivery in lorry to cornwall be £100's or what.

I can't answer your Q, but first you say the item is near Reading (Berkshire)....yet then you mention pick up in Kent. There's quite a few miles difference there....so will affect price quoted.

A lot could depend on its weight and if it has to be kept dry. You could try your local area for 7.5t truck hire self drive, or try finding a company to pick up and deliver (if its not too fragile). Apart from people like TNT, try using google with 'pallet transport'. A lot of companies run 'groupage' loads every night to various key destinations around the country and they can be cheaper than the big courier companies.

Think fuel costs to start (and remember they would need to do a round trip at least), assuming mid Kent and mid Cornwall that's about a 600mile round trip.. I reckon that will cost a lorry of about that size approx £200 in diesel alone, add the time for the driver I'd figure about 400-500
