Why the animosity??
Why do people hate David and Victoria Beckham so much?
Have a look a some of the responses here:

I could understand it if the article were about Ian Huntley and Maxine Carr, but this is just a footie player and his fashionista wife.
I've not seen anything about them sacrificing the blood of newborn babies or robbing pensioners of their savings...so why the hate???

I dislike him a bit but that's only because he came out the hard done by victim through the whole Loos thing and she took it all in the neck. her choice to stick with it though, no skin off my nose. She's the big earner now and good on her. as far as collections go, I love her clothes and despite being incredibly thin I do think she looks marvellous.
The tall poppy syndrome... We build up these folk, then we love to knock them down once we think they've grown too tall.
Personally, I like David a lot. Victoria I like, but what I do dislike is all that pouting & posturing and fashion stuff. Why can't she just smile and stop posing - people would like her more.

I don't know, but they do seem quite ubiquitous - He's a very reasonable football player, but his wife - well, I just want to sit her down and give her a few good dinners she's so thin, and looks so miserable with it! I also stopped buying newspapers because of the so-called 'celebrity' rubbish, but I do like to leaf through them now and again at the library - my wife leaves me in there while she goes shopping, she says i put 'rubbish' in the trolley and spend too much.
I can see why people would be jealous of their fame and fabulous wealth
After all what have they done to deserve it? Cure cancer? bring peace to the middle East?
No he kicks a ball about and she dresses up and used to sing a bit.
It's probably quite natural to resent someone's success when it appears cheaply won

Perhaps it is the feeling that 'there are more deserving cases' who haven't achieved the same level of fame.
I can't comment on David Beckham because I know nothing about football, but to a degree I can understand why some feel jealous of Victoria Beckham, because of the five Spice Girls, she was obviously the least talented (and to be the least talented of the Spice Girls is pretty strong condemnation).
...but still...

I don't think it's jealousy. I would rather be me than VB. I don't crave the limelight, fame or fortune. I don't begrudge people who do and manage to achieve it.
