From the rowan/ red thread about living together or getting married, I said that i was having lunch with a heterosexual couple who had been living together for 15yrs and get their view on the subject.
Firstly, they live in Knapton, which is your neck of the woods...I think.
Secondly she is 24 weeks pregnant and they have decided to get married..reason...purely for legal reasons. Apparently the live in male/female has no rights in law and if the deceased leaves the estate to the survivor, then capital gains has to be paid. If they are married, then this doesn´t apply. The bottom line is that they are getting married for security for each and the unborn child.
I asked them their opinion on infidelity and it was their opinion, based on their experiences that there was greater infidelity in the married people than in the people that lived together.i.e it was the married folk that were hopping into bed with each other and not the unmarried folks.
I can see why they are getting married for her security and for the sake of the child. I would too. Are they basing their ideas on people they know? Perhaps it's people that get married too young that are more likely to stray later. Just a thought.
Knapton is probably about 35 miles away in North East Norfolk. I am in North West Norfolk.
I fancy some Tapas!!! I have been sawing off tree branches and worked up an appetite!! Some wine would be nice too. x
lofty.... abondigas ( meat balls).......No we didn't have them..we had Calamari a la Romana, Higaro (liver), ensalada russa, chips(LOL) and a Haza (Ribero del Duero)
Yes, it happens ummmm. Perhaps one partner intended to split all along but decided that they would be financially better off if they were to marry first!!! ;o)
