Least you have a better class of yob! Our Chavish friends do not have transportation to spread their whereabouts!, they probably would be un insured so reporting it to the police would be a good idea, however due to he crime rate this crime would probably go un checked nevermind unpunished.

Ever wondered people act in this way in the first place?  It's easy to sit on your high horse and slate people for 'behaving like yobs' or "chavs", not so easy to get to the root of the problems, and I don't think things have changed that dramatically in five years.  If you report the crime, which you should do of course, the youths will be, or not be, reprimanded.  If you campaign, write to your local MP, get local residents together to try and find something else for youths to do in the evenings, assuming that is the problem.

If the Council have done nothing, write again and copy in your local MP, believe me it helps!

Are any of them actually breaking any laws or causing public order offenses or is this just a case of them annoying you and bringing down the tone of your "very expensive" area....??

If they are not actually legally doing anything wrong then there is nothing you can do except be more tolerant. If they are breaking the law then call the police. The council will have no power to do anything anyway apart from lobby the local MP.

Most of us do put up with it, whether we live in very expensive areas or not.

Try not to make this question a classist issue! I would suggest a CCTV camera if possible to record the antics of these anti social lot!
Wether most people put up with it or not, does not make it acceptable, I am 23 now and have definately seen a huge changes in "social" behaviours in the kids around now.  Of course there have always been problems with kids but not to the extent where there is simply no respect for anyone or anything, and to suggest it may be caused from their bad upbringing (broken homes etc.) is not a good enough reason, it just seems to be a good excuse to use when they are caught, I havnt had a good upbringing but I'm not hassling people or destroying property, unfortunatly there isn't a lot you can do about it, besides inform the council again, contact the police and your local MP.  Just remember if you ever have any kids make sure they are brought up with respect and resposibility.  Now I shall get off my soap box and let others reply.

Or like I said before, if you know they are breaking the law or causing a public disturbance then call the police.

This is a classist issue as ignorant snobs have already put a label on these people by calling them "chavs". The definition of which being based on the assumption they are working class, ill educated and poor. Although this being true in a lot of cases all the majority of people that would fit into this "chav" category by description in my area are rich kids with nothing to do acting out and rebelling a little bit.

I am sure that the terminology " chav " can be taken in more than one context, according to some David Beckham and Posh are the biggest Chavs and I wouldn't say they are short of money! By labelling someone an ignorant snob then surely that is creating a class divide which is not the most constructive approach to tackle the issue. Whether or not the people responsible for the nuisance are rich or poor, it does not matter, the problem is the anti social behaviour. I would label anyone with these tendencies a Chav, mostly because it sumises quickly the attitudes of a certain minority group of people. Rich or Poor really is not relevant, i think this all started from the " very expensive area" comment which maybe should have been phrased " in a generally good area".
