Enough is enough and I'm sick of being controlled and a slave to nicotine and purposefully administering this slow acting carcinogenic poison to myself. Originally I thought I'd start in the new year but why wait until then and further harm myself? Anyway I've bought some niquitin-minis lozenges 1.5mg and will be starting tomorrow morning after having my last smoke tonight. I will be logging cravings on a 1-10 scale, stress of the day on a 1-10 scale, depression and other things such as whether my appetite goes up etc..
I think the most dangerous times will be in the mornings, after meals and before bed.
I've stopped drinking for the moment so the after drink cigarette will not be a problem for now.
Hopefully I will be able to stick this out and maybe even be an inspiration for others to quit.
Thanks zzxxee I think if you give up and are mobile then you should definitely incorporate a fitness regime starting with walks to boost oxygen and energy levels.
Pixi as you've said it sounds like a small price to pay if it saves your life.
Im really sorry for being rude but I havent had time to read your thread -I gave up 7yrs ago finally and it was easy -I has a chest infection -didnt clear up and I didnt like the lack of breath and when I went down to Docs and he had to give me a mega dose and I didnt smoke since,
I like breathing..and not struggling to...
No problem dris thanks for replying. I had enough as I was starting to escalate my smoking as my normal dose wasn't working no more so everytime I smoked I felt like I needed another as I wasn't fulfilled so that's when i said I can't be a slave to this no more, there was also the fact that I was getting breathless whenever climbing stairs with shopping or when having a brisk walk and I said enough is enough and here we are 6 days later.
I would just like to add here at this point that I've had some drinks for the first time this month and will probably continue till later, the smoking urges have reappeared and are very strong.
your on day 7 ? are you saying you have had some alcohol and your craving a cig more than without the alcohol ? if yes you knew this would be a big stress for you, up the intake of the mints. keep us posted.
Exactly annesquith and I was in two minds about having a drink in the first place for this reason, as you said must increase the mints and stay strong!
Don't drink or do anything that you feel like smoking afterwards; hmmmm ! If you put on a pound or two, so what? you can always deal with that later. Hang in there!
Hi MM I've just caught up with this post. From what crofter said on the first page - that it takes 10 days to break the nicotine addiction - please don't give in now. You've done so well to get through 7 days. Just hang on in there for a few more days and things are bound to get easier. Good luck.
Thanks JMR27, I'm being pulled but not as pronounced as earlier, I think that common sense has taken over and my brain knows that if I give in now, the previous 6 days of hell would've all been in vain, and I'll have to do it all again.
Thanks countastrong, I haven't started yet but a smoking savings account sounds like a great idea as will be harder to access than the jar which might get rifled everytime I need some change.
