religion....the as long as you both shall live/til death do you part thing
love?
No-one knows the dynamics of a marriage except the two people involved.

It is to the advantage of the partner playing away to 'talk up' the problems in the marriage.

Tell your 'friend' to find someone who is single, or available with fewer complications.
Fear of being alone..
Fear of starting again from scratch..
and dont forget that the man can choose the "flings" over his marriage. Obviously his wife still comes first
Exactly the same reason as a man stays with a woman after she has "put it about"

It is a matter of weighing up the pluses and minuses of splitting up.
Kids firstly, as they dont care if parents cheat so long as both are with them.

Finance secondly, more 'guilt' money to spend at will :)
Nonsense Jaydah....Kids want happy parents...not parents who are sticking together for their benefit but who are as miserable as sin.

Cheating causes misery..
kids value their happy family structure over money
Jayda I tend to agree with Ummm ( hello lovely) that kids are far better off when their unhappy parents split up- but people stay with a partner that 'cheats' for a variety of reasons everything from it not being their main concern, love and so on to purely financial.
I`m not sure ummm. My parents used to bicker and fall out and when I was 3 I can remember my Mum asking me how I would feel if she went back to London (200 miles away) and took me with her, thus leaving my Dad. It was a very insensitive, selfish thing to say to a 3 year old and I was confused and devastated. I didn`t care how much my parents argued, I just wanted to live with both of them.
Hello Noxy xx

3 is too young to understand what they are arguing about. Too young to see the hurt in someones face and mannerisms.

I don't remember ever hearing my Mum and Dad argue. I don't actually remember her being unhappy. She left my Dad when I was 8 (no cheating involved) and I was devastated. It didn't take long to see the difference in my Mum though. She started being happy again...

We were only a 10 minute walk away though.....and got to see my Dad whenever we wanted.
Nothing would have made me happier than if my mother had left my father, but she didn't care enough about either herself or anyone else to do that and try as i might not to be judegmental about it, maybe if she had left so many things would have been different.
