Hi - I was wondering if anyone answer the following question.

About September 2003 I purcased a Britax forward face car seat, with fixed seat belts. This was used for about 5 years till my son got to the age of 6, i then transfered him to a booster seat. I now have another son who is coming up to 12 months old and I would like to use the car seat again. In the 2 years that it wasn't being used it was stored in our loft.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any reasson why the seat should not be used eg car seats should not be used if they are over a couple of years old. The seat has never been droped and there is no sign of any wear in the plastic or material.

Thanks

"Car seats should not be used if they are over a couple of years old"???
Who says so?

This 'official' website (from RoSPA, with the support of the Department for Transport) doesn't say anything like that at all:
http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/

The nearest it comes to dealing with your question is this page about second hand car seats:

Hi Buenchico, Thanks for your help, I have checked out the web sites.

The reason I was asking is because someone told me that the car seat should be discarded after 5 years (they had read this on the internet). i have checked the internet myself and can not see anything regarding this.

Thanks once again
