if the ghosts of christmas ''past''...''present''...and ''the future''....

were to take you tonight where would you want to be in your past?? what would you want to make your xmas this year??..and what do you want in the future??

I don't mind choosing somewhere in my past to reflect on,but I would rather not tempt fate by choosing something in the future!

Here we go:~
I am 22 and madly in love,but sadly I was a bad judge of character,he was married and it soon (18 months) fizzled out.You may wonder why I choose what could be called time.Well, even now I think he was the right man for me,but unfortunately someone had got to him first.

This Christmas will be what many more before them have been, predictable.
I nearly always spend Christmas alone,very few couples want a sad old spinste (61) like me to dampen their festivities,but I am used to it.

I had no choice in the 'past' one today Dave. I opened a letter which I then realised was addressed to my late sister. Later on, someone I know, but don't like, hand delivered a motley selection of old photographs of late members of my family - including the same sister, together with one of funeral flowers for my late father with a note 'I thought you might like these'. Bizarre to say the very least.

thats a bit odd to say the least ttfn i was looking at some photos of me and my dad today from when i came back from iraq in 1991 he was so proud...i miss him so much...

I am actually the life and sould of the party,but it's how a single female is "perceived" by "couple" society that prevents me getting invites.

Honestly, I don't think I have anything to learn from my past.

All my mistakes were pointed out to me at the time...and rectified :-)

Present - I'm happy with my life (just missing my Dad)

Future - I want things to stay as they are....

if you lived anywhere near stoke on trent invictas you could come to my house anytime to be involved in any party we were holding...i cant see what being a single female aged 61 should be any barrier to you or anyone else in your position..more fool the people who dont invite you i say...

Such memories Dave. Tonight, purely by chance, I came across my mother's 'Day Book' in which she recorded many noteworthy events - similar to a diary but no wasted pages. How the years just roll back going through it. I also have all of her diaries - including the 1952 one in which she simply wrote on 6th February 'The King died today'. I can spend hours going through such archives let alone looking at all those photos.

Invictas - being alone, as we are, is not the issue. What is important is how we cope with it. I do hope Mrs Stoke doesn't read OH's posts tonight - he keeps inviting single women of a certain age to share his company - but only because he is a lovely gent :o)

Not just Christmas Dave, though it may enhance it for us. 'Years' my dear man? Try 'decades'. I had a passing look in the mirror today prior to going out and I didn't like what I saw - grey hair, wrinkles (I can no longer get away with calling them laughter lines) and portmanteaus under the eyes - who nicked my bags? I won't even mention the pallor - LOL

If I could go back to my 20th year with the ability to change the bad events that's where I would go. That would be sixty three years ago, so no chance. Come to think of it, it would be nice to go back to my school years and work harder - I know I certainly wasted my time. But we cannot go back only forward and I have had a good life on the whole, especially compared to some people who have really s****y lives. Best to forget that and try to have a lovely time not only now but in the time to come. Happy Christmas stoke, I enjoy your threads.
