Sorry to trouble you, but I wondered if you may be able to help please?
My seven year old nephew has just been admitted to hospital.
He was complaining of ear pain. GP prescribed antibiotics on Wedneday. Thursday he was still in pain, so the GP doubled the dose of abx. Today he was in so much pain, the GP referred him to the hospital.
CT scan done, and it showed a partial blockage of a vein somewhere in his head (parents wording). He was given clot busters and now on a 10/7 warfarin.
In your opinion, could the two be related? Have you come across this before? Sorry for the lack of full medical information, but it is all I have go to on. Dad was obviously too upset to talk.
PMH - prone to ear infections which usually resolve with abx. Nil else of significance.
Many thanks.

Believe you me Sqad, if I could I would get the results of all his investigations.
The questions you have asked are the exact questions I have been asking all along. The majority of the info I have been getting is from my in laws and they have no grasp of medicine.
I shall wait until things have settled down more, and then try and find out more direct from the parents. Dad is a physio so hopefully he will have a better understanding.
When I know more, I will let you know.
Many thanks again people.

Sqad - a little amount of further information for you.
The clot was in the transverse sigmoid sinus.
He is still struggling with the vision in his left eye. We hope in time when the pressure is reduced on his optic nerve that his vision will improve and not be permanently damaged. His pain is on and off, and he is exhausted (understandably).
I have been unable to obtain the results of the LP.
