does their diabetes make them unable to work?
Anyone is entitled to disability benefits if they meet the criteria. If diabetes is the only health problem then it depends on how it affects the person's ability to work. I doubt very much it'd be paid automatically to a diabetic- an assessment would have to be made

the man i know is 70 yr old
he is able to get about no pproblem
He MAY be entitled to attendance allowance (which is a disability benefit). However it would depend on how much help he needs with care from another person.
Well then, probably not - there are strict criteria for disability benefit (like not being able to get about and do things for yourself). there are many degrees of diabetes, many people on medication lead perfectly normal lives, just being careful. He would need to ask for himself and fill in the claim forms (which I think still requires a medical report too).
I'd suggest he claims Pension Credits, if he satisfies the criteria.
Depends on the severity but if he's able to get out and about I doubt he will fit the criteria as factor has pointed out.
are diabetics entitled to disability benefit - no, having diabetes does not automatically qualify anyone for any benefits.
Diabetes is not looked upon as a disability. He may be able to get attendance allowance but is too old to claim disability
At 70 he is not entitled to DLA. His best bet is to go to CAB to see what benefits he is entitled to
Diabetics can and do work normaly. If you inform your employer you are diabetic you are covered by the Disability Discrimination Act. Don`t know about benefits.
As a diabetic (type 1) I get free eye test, free chriophody and free perscriptions.
