I've been toying with the idea for quite a while now and I'm wondering would a beard suit me? I'm a little worried about stubble rash on my girlfriend who has very sensitive skin and I'm also worried about itchiness and grooming but I'm sick of my current look which I've had for years. so what are the pro's and cons for beard growing?

With that haircut, you'll look like you've got your head on upside down if you grow a beard.
A close cropped goatee would look good.
Don't do it. Beards smell funny. Just grow your hair if you want a different look.
I like a man with a beard. OH gets his trimmed about once a month. He has a moustache as well. Apart from anything else, it saves shaving.
Some kind of designer stubble with the look you already got, dont do the full beard!
you'll never know what it looks like till you grow it. It might be a different colour from your hair, or straight when you've got curly hair. It might itch, it might not (but once you've actually got a beard rather than just stubble that should be less of a problem). Really, the only thing you can do is go ahead and grow one.

Wow lots of quick but different answers! I'm liking the idea of maybe doing the stubble thing and maybe branching out into the goatee and eventual full beard. Boo I've always thought that the bald head and clean cut beard look was pretty neat!
"bald head and clean cut beard look was pretty neat! "

Fair 'nuff.
Beards do NOT smell funny. I've been married to two 'beardies'-and both of them had beards that were always clean.
I'd say what you want is a 'chin curtain'...I think that's the correct term for a fine line of hair growth along the jawline. A sort of symbolic beard-with less risk of irritating the girlfriend.
bald heads and beards reminds me of the envirophone advert where the bald bloke with a beard says " cooool"

I would go for stubble if I were you, beards can be quite ageing though..
Right or wrong, I equate beards with laziness and would ask "What's the point?".

Well as I've been compared to John Travolta many of times I think I should go with this.

In no way is a full beard 'lazy'....a man who cares about grooming will spend a fair amount of time trimming and shaping the damn thing...lol
Craft - that last one wants me to take a pair of scissors to it - a bit like when you see people with one silly little pigtail plait at the back of the head....
lmao!

You look sod all like John Travolta!, well not in that picture anyway.
I think a couple of them are works of art.....

No I totally agree with you as that was my Matrix neo look. I have many different looks I generally do for fun, Ill see whether I can rustle up any good recent ones.
No.. dont grow one, there horrible, i`ve yet to see any man with a well groomed beard.

I ask you to look at these and then reconsider your opinion maggie.
