Ambulances are for emergencies, not self-inflicted drunken revellers. The police should have authority to hose these drunks down and leave them where they collapse.

Eddie...come on............TV shows indeed.

<<<<'how much of my opinion is influenced by what I see on TV'' <<<

None.

My opinion is based on:
1) TV News
2) Personal experience of working in Casualty Departments.
I agree EDDIE. It's not something I've ever seen either. I see people stumbling and girls talking in high pitched voices...that's about it.

Oh, and fights...9 times out of 10 between people that know each other.
of course it hasn't always been like that

With due respect to sqad's experience in A&E comparing past clinical experience with present day tabloid experience isn't too scientific.

Eddie....do you really?

Fri, Sat Sun nights........work in Casualty do you?
Back to the OP.
Can you provide a link to your opinion? Not anyone elses kneejerk posts.
All the times I've been to casualty, and it's been lot's, I haven't seen many drunks...
ummmm....then there can´t be a problem then.
There can....just not sure it's a bad as you think.
OK, fair enough.

But the big problem with news (either on TV, papers, whatever) is it's not very newsworthy to report "a group of people went out, had a few drinks and came home quietly"

News pretty much only ever reports the handful of bad things that happen but never mentions the thousands of good things that happen each day.

I live near to Colchester which is a well known squadie town (no pun intended) and it's incredibly rare to see the sort of problems reported on the news even in a town such as Colchester.

It's the same surely with A&E. you will only ever see the bad cases in there, you'll never see the hundreds or thousands of people that go out for a few quiet drinks for every one person that ends up in A&E
Come to Romford on a Friday and Saturday night when the clubs turn out - its frightening and sad at the same time.
Chuck....al your points are well taken, but it is my opinion, based on my experiences that the one person that ends up in Casualty as part of the hundreds of thousand that dont, is increasing in frequency, severity and violence.

Just an opinion.
