I am female aged 51 and feel that my hair is getting really thin and fine.
My doctor said it looks normal to him and would not do anything but I know myself that it is definitely not anywhere near as thick as it was this time last year.
I am getting quite obsessed about it now.
Can anyone suggest any herbal remedies or anthing else that might bring it back to normal.

be careful, I had a mate who had this done as her hair was getting thinner and finer and it made her own hair break off
You could try Perfectil or Boots Hair Skin and Nail vitamins. Must admit although it helped my nails my hair is still thinner than when I was younger. Look at a lot of middle aged women, unfortunately the scalp does begin to show ... my hair was never thick to start with, but is thinner now. I think its just a sign of age, some people are just lucky and always have thick hair, pot luck I suppose.

I found the opposite to pixi - I've thin and fine light to mid brown colour hair and I have blonde highlights which definitely make it appear a bit thicker. Unfortunately at 51, nature is going to take her course. If anyone can suggest anything that actually works, please post it, as I have a friend who has a bit of a complex about her hair thinning and has tried lots of over the counter products, thickening shampoos etc, but none really seem to work. Sorry!

I was recommended Sea Kelp when I lost some hair because my iron levels were very low. it was really good. I recommended it to a woman at work who had very thin hair, and she was impressed, too.

you can get it from Holland and Barrett.. or probably any good health food shop.
I believe eating Marmite could help as it's full of vitamin B. You on ly need a thin layer on a piece of toast. I started doing this every day after having radiotherapy, and I think it worked.
Thinning hair!!! Who wants fat hair ?.
It's our age honey-pie! I'm very fortunate in that I have (had) VERY thick hair so it's not really noticeable on me. I can feel that it's thinner and I get masses of it wrapped around my fingers when I wash it. You'll probably find that you're getting all sorts of strange "ailments".
Queenio - I wish the Marmite treatment worked, but I eat the stuff all the time and my hair is horribly thin. It has no body and I can only keep it very short or it is appalingly straggly as well. My mother's was just the same, so I think it's in the genes. I wear a hat a lot of the time!
