Do you still find yourself having dreams about when you were at work? And did you enjoy your life then, and is it better now?

Sqad, as much as I love Mr LL to be with him 24/7 would drive me mad - and I am sure he is the same. We are no Derby and Joan believe me!! We have often spent time apart over the years and we can both survive without each other.

He is due to retire this year (but I don't think he will). I can't imagine him enjoying retirement (especially with me around!!) ;o)
Lofty....exactly.
I still dream about all the different lives I have led. I retired 3 years ago and cannot see how I ever had time to go to work. I won't say that my working life was terrible but retired is better.
i disagree that you have nothing to talk about. we're together a lot of the time and never shut up, we get on better now than we've ever done. he does one day a week voluntary work but the rest of the time, unless something comes up, we spend our time with each other. wouldn't have it any other way.

when DH and I were first married he was in the merchant navy. The first thing we did after our honeymoon was go away on a 10 month twice around the world trip sharing a cabin smaller than our bedroom is now. We spent all DH's off duty time together but when he was at work i had to amuse myself and we were at sea so I couldn't go anywhere. It was an excellent test of the relationship and while we aren't turtle doves we are definitely soulmates. That was 36 years ago.
LOL Sqad!!

I wouldn't change it though - would you?
we don't sit at home just 'being together' though, we're out and about doing stuff. maybe because we were both comparatively young when we retired (i was 49, he was 50) we were, and still are, very active. having the means to enjoy life help too.
eth....you must be "loaded" being able to afford to retire at 50.

Doc......sorry....I thought that you had only just retired.
Eth. I quite like being out and about on my own or with friends!!

There, that is being really honest.

I like being out and about with Mr LL too though, just not all the time. I like to do my own thing a lot and so does he. I also enjoy getting away for breaks on my own with friends or family.

However, what works for one couple is not what works for another.
Sqad. I have replied.
We do stuff together and stuff apart. Just about since I could toddle I have needed time alone. Dh is the only person i always prefer to solitude.
lofty...so have I.
