Right well its me again for the hundredth time it feels! For those of you that cant remember my 12mth old has been ill since around 13th Dec last year. He started with an ear infection the week before we went on holiday and was on antibiotics for this. He didnt get back to his usual self and eating normally until just before New Years Eve. When we got back last weekend he was not himself but I put this down to jet lag. He then got a sickness bug which was on and off until last Tues. Since then I have taken him back to GP and was told he still had an ear infection and now a bloody chest one too so he is on further antibiotics. Just as I thought he was picking up a little he is now being sick again, usually just once a day. Thurs night it was because he was coughing whilst laid down in bed but today he ate his breakfast ok and after a tiny amount of lunch he brought it all back up. I just feel he is never going to be better again. Should I be concerned that he is still being sick which has lasted 6 days now or is it all part of his chest infection or the antibiotics? His poo is fairly yucky too.

Personally I would take him back to the doctors. He may have a tummy bug from your holiday or it could be something else.

Well last night he was a whole lot better at sleeping and managed to stay in his cot til 5.45 so hopefully its a sign he is improving. He did eat breakfast too but did yesterday then was sick at lunch so will see how it goes. Thanks. Kids are so worrying arent they?!
If you don't feel happy then take him back to the doctor's. They don't mind ressuring you. And if they do - tough. He's your baby and you need to know that he's OK.
have you elevated his cot mattress from underneath so he is not lying flat on it. That helps wonders with a kid's cough, well anyones to be honest. I'm inclined to say it's just a bit of rotten luck. I think all kids go through phases where they never seem to get better. You should see a marked difference with a couple of days of starting antibiotics though, so if you don;t take him back and get some different ones.
Speaking as someone who is allergic to penicillin and a bit sicky with some other ant-biotics I would take your back and tell the doctor about the sickness and maybe he could change it if just to rule it out. I don't think chest infections make you sick but he sounds very low with all these infections one after another. The trouble with dishing out too many anti-biotics is that they seem to weaken the system, especially regarding the stomach and you will have to build up his strength and immune system afterwards.Take him back, good luck.
One extra point, though,it may just be the coughing that brings the food up.
chest infections make children vomit as they swallow the secretions/phlegm it floats in their stomach until they sick it up the coughing can make them puke too..
I agree that's possible rw,but it may not be.My son had a chest infection and he was not sick at all,he just couldn't breathe very well and coughed quite a lot.
