Operation on 1st October 2010 - I still have some slight residual 'operation pain' (but I had a minor complication and had to have a second procedure a week or so later which prolonged the recovery time).
Take things slowly; be kind to your back.
Don't sit without moving for more than 5 mins at a time to start; if you have any exercises, DO THEM; start off with 5 minute walks and build up time and distance..............listen to what your back is telling you.
