Fox on doorstep ......update

I was asked by a fox group to feed the fox for a couple of nights as it was not acting normal,

last night he/she was still very friendly and would just walk up to people so i spoke to some sanctrys and they advised me about catching it as obviously it was not acting normal, Saying that this fox looked imaculate but there is something wrong in its behaviour, I was asked if i could try to catch it So tonight I got my huge metal dog cage out cut some ply to put on the bottom so it would not hurt it self and at 4.30 he/she appeared under my car looking at me for food, It walked into the cage to eat the food straight away,
I then took it to st tiggywinkles wildlife hosptial where they could not believe its behaviour they think it is either concussed/parasite on the brain/ or half hand reared.
they will ivaluate him/she for severn to ten days and do tests, if it turns out that it is not frightened of people then they have a sanctry for foxs that is just beeing built and he/she will live out its days there.

please excuse spelling and writing but i still have abit of an adrenaline rush.

That is amazing.Well done you.I know foxes cause a lot of divided opinion but there is no denying they are beautiful creatures. What a happy ending if it can live out its days in a sanctuary.

I have got some fantastic photos after the last two nights.....I will down load my new avatar tomorrow. Hope the little one is ok tonight I am sure it will be now, It is a divided opinion and i kep chickens and ducks....but there was no way that i was going to let someone shoot it as we are a close surrounded by farms

Hopkirk no the fox did not whiff.....but what it left in the dog cage certainly did , Kate my daughter and I had our heads out of the window all the way home....left a lovely present...while i am gagging now even

My brother has a fox that visits his garden and he said that the visits were no problem but the fox poo left behind was a problem.

With wild animals I always think that even if the vets/sanctuaries can do nothing to save the animal at least it won't die a long and painful death.

Fox poo is the worst thing to get rid of when dogs roll in it too. Well done for saving him, the dead one I moved out of the road last week was in magnificent condition. Had my share of chickens and ducks taken by them and have hunted in the past, but I would not see one be left to suffer without making sure it was dead or treated.

what an adventure and well done. Years ago when we were buying this house, our then dog was about a year old. We came back to the house to measure up (it was empty) and dear pup rolled in fox poo in the garden...we are in a house we don't own, carpetted on a sunday, no big shops open then with a stinking pup!! happily the local convenience store was open so we bought up all the kitchen roll, bin bags and tomatoe juice and paste that they had and cleaned him up as well as we could before the journey home....never forgotten.

Boxtop, I can ring them in seven days to find out how its doing, Today is dragging out i think next week is going to be along one, I still keep looking out the window for it, But glad it's beeing looked after by Tiggywinkles they are only 5 miles from me.

Just to let you know, I phoned tiggywinkles to find out how the litle fox was and have found out that it is definately a dog fox and that he is beeing treated for lung worm at the moment, They still cant fathem out why he is so friendly they are going to try to wild him up. ( there words ) But it is more than likely he will spend the rest of his days in there purpose built fox enclosure, tiggywinkles have apart of the center that you pay a fee and walk around and look at some of there casualtys that cannot be released and where foxy is going it is very nice and i am sure he will be happier there than what he would be if he was still roaming scavenging for food.
