Does anybody out there know a good cure for policemans heel ?

As it turned out once he was diagnosed as having an underactive thyroid gland and since taking thyroxine it improved. quite strangely but it obviously had something to do with his general health. He also worked in a factory wearing hard steel capped boots for 20yrs.
Wearing different footwear helped as did losing weight.

Good site, willow74. Shuv007 - there's all you need to know. I usually prescribe an arch support. If you can simply prevent elongation of the arch when weight bearing, stretching of the plantar facia is prevented, and symptoms ease. Left untreated, you run the risk of develpoing a heel spur. This is an outgrowth from the periosteum of the calcaneus - the site of connection at the heel, and can be very painful and harder to treat. Make an appointment with your local health centre, or seek referral from your GP. Good luck.
