Casual or not?

i had been seeing this guy... he told me he couldn't have a relationship but just wanted to go casual. He has been hurt a lot in the last year and i feel like he is saying all this to stop himself getting hurt. I told him this and he said it was so he didn't hurt me like he hurts everyone. I feel like he wants more than just casual but how can i really tell? :s

I think he is being straight with you from the start ... unless it's just the age old blokes way of saying "i'll see you for sex but don't count on anything else". You're maybe just wanting more than he's wanting to give.

We had started seeing eachother and we were heading for the relationship... when he said it hit him that he might hurt me. he said he couldn't do that to me. he said that he had wanted a relationship but because of the last two he didn't want it to end up the same by me getting hurt.

I don't know your ages but maybe it's inexperience or immaturity on his part as he'll never develop a meaningfull relationship without taking a chance ... same can be said about many aspects of life.

I think it's very honest. You know what you are getting. No ties, no commitment. Either go for it and enjoy it and don't expect it to develop, or finish it now if you are likely to get yourself involved - he won't.

I think he might be a player, and could have another girl somewhere, it's a classic line.

IMO, if he wanted more than casual, he wouldn't tell you that was all he wanted. It sounds like he is trying to let you down gently.

Hmmmm...not sure. When I started see my OH I told him I didn't want anything serious. He was happy to go along with that. It turned serious quite quickly though...because I fell in love :-)
