one of our carers at work came out a clients house the other night and was attacked. As she walked down back street she felt she was being watched and suddenly a man grabbed her, pushed her head into a wall and started licking her face. In a matter of seconds he had ripped her uniform open, her tights and pants off. The girl suddenly remembered something she had seen on tv and poked her fingers in his eyes and ripped her nails down his face. He fell back and she kicked him a number of times, so hard her feet are black with bruises. He got up and ran away. God forbid anyone on here is ever in that situation but use this advice.

Poor girl, I hope she is OK

There are lots of other things she could have done that spring to mind. If he was licking her face she could have sunk her teeth into his nose AND used her knee on his dangly bits at the same time.

I suppose it is easy to give advice from the comfort of home No one knows how they would react in such a situation

I do...I was attacked...I went ballistic and he ended up running away from me..
How awful! Must have been terrifying. I hope she is ok and is getting support from the company and police.
Sounds awful. Instinct takes over I guess, some people are trained in boxing or a martial art and would instinctively react. Others, like the above mentioned woman, acted on an impulse driven by something she had seen. Without going down a legal avenue, you have to do what it takes to survive and no woman should allow this to happen, if you can fight and get away you dam well should!
Personally I think the attcker deserved all that he got!!
If it had got that far she could have gone for a "Bobbitt"

Well done her though - hope she has reported this to the police.

Eldest girl has been learning Taewkowndo, one of the reasons being the above scenario, though I joke that her hands are now licensed to split logs for firewood.
By scratching his face she should have traces of his DNA under her fingernails (and where he licked her face possibly), if the guy has previous the police should have his DNA on file and be able to catch him.

I was attacked when I was 15 by a guy on a bike, he pushed me to the floor and jumped on me, my high heeled shoe came off and I picked it up and hit him with it across the face, he let me go and I legged it back to my foster parents in hysterics.
what a brave girl my heart truly truly goes out to her.
I hope the police have been informed and are giving her lots of emotional support.

someone did go to local hospital that night with eye injuries but yet to be confirmed if it was him. She didnt see him so cannot identify him but they have taken dna from the skin that was under her fingernails. And even if it isnt him surely someone will notice a man with scratches all down their face. She is as ok as you can be after such an ordeal. She wants to carry on working and said that is her job and her life and he wont change that. She said straight afterwards all she could think was that she'd be late for next call.
does your employers provide panic alarms ?
if not i would strongly suggest you ask them hun x
Making a loud noise is always recommended, even if there is not obviously anyone about, screaming can be heard quite a way off. The elbow in the right place is also a good tool.
Thank God your colleague remembered what to do. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust gives excellent training tips in case you're attacked. http://www.suzylamplu...personal-safety-tips/
Sound awful 4get. Glad she managed to get her own back and run away.

Is it just me or is anyone else scared of Ummmm now?
No tigger, I admire her grit!

zzxxee we have ordered rape alarms and all carers will be issued with them. after it happened out of hours told her to go to tesco and wait in carpark where police and her friend met her.
if he had been armed with a knife she wouldn't have stood a chance and so that was a blessing really, of course going armed to commit that kind of attack is escalating his crime but he may do that next time and so we can only hope he is stopped soon
I was just joking Box :o)

i dont think people go out to help when hearing rape alarms but would certainly scare attacker off.
All credit to her for having the presence of mind although even though I havent been there I think a do or die mentality would kick in.Hope she stays strong and they get the culprit.Shocking story....
good for her. Shame women no longer have hats - and hat pins; they used to be a useful weapon in days gone by.
That's a horrible thing to have happened. I hope your friend eventually gets over the shock.
My niece (4' 11" and weighs 6 stone) was attacked recently by a would-be mugger. He came off worse - she's a black belt kick boxer. When the police turned up he had the cheek to say he would be suing her for the bruising she'd caused.
