Cut the end of one of my little fingers off in a door hinge then it got a tumor on it I had to get removed in surgery. Kind of a thing in our family as my dad managed to cut the same little finger of his off when he tripped with a hedge strimmer and my mum managed to fall of a chair while hoovering the top of a wardrobe (?) and very badly damaged some of her fingers...my brother has escaped...so far...!
Also tore the ligaments in one of my knees during a shooting competition and ended up in plaster from ankle to hip shortly before coming down with pnuemonia and ending up hospitalised - during my A Levels too.
Your's and your father's fingers reminds me of my brother and father a few years ago Jenna. We were dismantling an old wooden conservatory when my brother stepped on a large rusty nail. We had to take my brother to A&E and my father was not happy about the delay continually grumbling and berating my poor brother for not being careful.
After sitting in A&E for about an hour my father had really worked himself up then he announced that he was leaving us with my mother and going back to carry on with the conservatory. Off he stormed in a huff. We were still sitting there about 45 later when my father hobbled back in looking very sorry for himself - he'd trodden on the same rusty nail! A&E had to treat them together!
I fell over on my way out of a sliding door (while slightly under the influence) and landed coccyx first on the thin metal rail at the bottom. If you have ever hurt your coccyx you will know how teeth clenchingly painful this is, for months. Had many problems following it which resulted in 5 equally painful operations and now about 11 years later I still can't sit on hard surfaces.
I cut my head open once after falling onto the side of a portable gas heater. My mother was busy telling me stop crying like a baby when she noticed the blood dripping down the side of my head.
When I was about 4 I managed to suck the top off a lollipop and it got stuck in my throat. I can't remember it at all but am told it was like a scene from Casualty with my mother running out into the street holding my rather blue body crying for help until the ambulance arrived. I'm told if it was much longer I wouldn't be here typing this now but I'm also told by the time my Dad got out of work and to the hospital, I was back to normal as if nothing had happened.
I've broke all my fingers on my left hand...and the hand itself. All on separate occasions. Broke my right ring finger last year...I've had a needle go straight through my toe...taken chunks out of my legs...lost count of the amount of stitches I've had..
The needle through my toe sticks in my memory because of my Dads reaction...He went mad..
*I'm fecking sick and fecking tired of fecking sitting down that fecking hospital get your fecking shoes on....
Was on beta-blockers for hypertension and suddenly became unconscious in the hallway at home, due to postural hypotension. Suffered fractures to L) radius and ulna, broken nose, 2 fractured ribs and facial lacerations. All unpleasant enough, but oh, those broken ribs... the pain was only equalled by several bouts of biliary colic I had years ago due to a calculus in the common bile duct. Thank God for surgery, though the fall was iatrogenic.
