well that's as near as I can describe it, I'll probably ring NHS in a bit, but it's like I am at 30,000 feet, I'm going to take some paracetamol but I am feeling a little unbalanced, (ha ha)
it's annoying rather than painfil but there is a hint of a headache developing. Any thoughts?

A soft answer turneth away wrath. Don't know who said it but it is certainly true. I was about to threaten you with another cake thread.
I've had that noise in my left ear for 5 years dotty, with me it is tinnitus.Hope yours isn't ,as it is very unpleasant.
....with me it is tinnitus. Hope yours isn't. Well, any noise that you hear that is self-generated (ie not a real noise from outside) is called tinnitus. It is a symptom, not a condition - so, if dotty can hear white noise, then dotty has tinnitus.
