Thyroid result query
maybe someone can help me with my thyroid results & the way I have been feeling for some time. About 25 years ago I had a thyroid goitre & had an operation to remove this. I was then put on thyroxine 100mcg, one daily. Then three years after the first operation I had another goitre which was also removed. I was told I then only had 'thyroid remnants' left. Then around six years ago I started to lose weight & after countless tests it was decided to reduce my thyroxine to 50mcg, one daily although my blood levels were within the acceptable limits. I slowly put weight back on & have been on 50mcg since. About 3 or 4 months ago I started to lose weight again & have, to date, lost just over one stone. As I have always been slim this is quite noticeable. Again, (with a different GP as we have moved home) I was sent for loads of blood tests all of which returned normal. I have now had an endoscopy which revealed inflammation in my stomach lining but nothing more. I was then sent for a scan of my liver, gall bladder & stomach but they have returned normal too. I recently had my thyroid bloods taken again & the results have returned TSH 3.3 & T4 18. According to my doctor's surgery the TSH should be within the scale of 0.35 - 4.94 & the T4 between 9 - 19.1 so the T4 is definitely on the high side of normal. The surgery have told me no action is required as the levels are within the limits. I am concerned about my weight & the lethergy I do feel at times & will, in the near future, obviously have to return to my doctors to be referred to a consultant who specialises in thyroid disorders but having had many hospital procedures in the last 2 1/2 years I really could do without this but need to know what is going on. Should I be concerned about the latest blood results?
