Although I'm 41 I love playing games on my playstation. The problem is for a while now I have found it hard to play some games because they make me feel ill physically. I get a semse os motion sickness.

It starts with a headache and then I start to feel sick. Its so annoying as it keeps me from playing some of my favorite games.

Is there a reason for it and is there a way to stop it.

Thank you for your time.

Sorry this isnt really an answer to your question but do you have Gran Turismo 4? If so, do you by any chance have any cheats for it, its rock hard (i think so anyway) Just cant do it! Its giving me a headache feel like selling it its pi55in me off that much! lol, sorry about that. Apolagies for the rather irrelevant answer mate, hope you get sorted out.

I'm sorry, I don't know how to prevent this but I'm glad it happens to someone else other than me!

I'm 36 and get exactly the same reaction to certain games - sometimes after about 2 mins of playing and it has only started in the last few years, its not something I have always experienced.

Maybe something is trying to tell us we are too old for game playing?!

Don't think it's to do with age. Weren't the original Pokemon cartoons getting children sick with all the flashing lights and colors?

Sorry Tom Tom can't help u there. I have the game but havn't had the chance to play it much yet. I only just got the PS2. Its games like Vice City  that cause the most problem. I noticed it some years ago when i was playing Ecco the Dolphin. The screen is rather jerky. But thats not the case with Vice City. Doom is another game that has the same effect. First person prosective games where all u can see is the hand and gun. But not games like Tomb Raider where you can see the whole figure.Puzzle games have no effect at all.

I don't think its age but it did cross my mind. My mother in law is 81 and she plays with no effect on any games.

I did hoever suffer from travel sickness a lot as a child. maybe this has something to do with it.

I might look round the net to see if there has been any study into it.

Thanks for ur answers.

I tried very hard to play some of the fast moving computer games, but they gave me palpitations and panic attacks and made me feel very sick.  It was almost as if I was really in the situations depicted.

I have given up!

If you are feeling sick playing vice city you probebly got colour or contrast up too high on your tv or moniter. This game uses a lot of sickly colours - pinks and mauves and contrasts them against blues and whites.. Also if your playing the ps2 version buildings tend to appear out of nowhere as opposed to real life where they start off as a small dot and get gradually bigger as you get close to them.
