I have a friend how has recently got engaged to her tunisian b/f , she 1st met him a few weeks ago when she went over to visit him, She has now told me she plans to marry over there, i am very worried. Any way the reason for this post is would her marrying over there make her Tunisian nationality or would she still be a uk citizen, I am scared she is unable to get home if she becomes a tunisian citizen. She has children and imo she has not known this guy long enough to think about marriage (only split with her husband few months ago) i think she is doing this to prove something and it is going to go wrong somehow, I hope not though, we have been friends since childhood and know the way she thinks , if someone says don't she will, so i can't even advise her till i know all facts of what she is getting into.

I married an Italian but this did not make me an Italian national. He lives here but is still Italian. Graham you made me laugh remembering about Deidre! So many of these marriages come unstuck Bunny. You will probably be picking up the pieces about a year from now. I am glad she has a friend like you who is concerned. When you say that she went there to meet him I imagine this has been an internet matching. Why would he be in such a hurry? Can you not caution her to get to know him first. Split with husband few months ago, so she is out of the frying pan into the fire. Tell her to cool it, have a fling if necessary but marry, right now, nooooooo. Her children are her top priority and the fact that he has already proposed kind of says it all.
